How Does Telehealth Counselling With A Psychologist Differ From In-Person Session?
What is telehealth counselling?
Telehealth counselling is also known as online counselling, virtual therapy, teletherapy, cybertherapy, remote therapy or e-therapy. It is a counselling session that is conducted via phone or video, enabling people to access mental health support from anywhere.
After a massive uptake of telehealth counselling during the pandemic, it is maintaining its popularity due to its convenience and efficacy. Psychologists are available to you via telehealth.

NDIS
We provide NDIS-supported psychological services for individuals whose disability impacts their mental or emotional wellbeing.
If your plan includes psychology support, sessions are usually fully funded.
WorkCover & CTP
If your mental health condition is related to a workplace injury, stress, or motor vehicle accident, your sessions may be funded through:
- WorkCover
- CTP (Compulsory Third Party Insurance)
In many cases, we can bill the insurer directly, meaning there is no cost to you.
We are happy to guide you through the approval process.
TAC (Transport Accident Commission)
If you have been involved in a road accident and are experiencing psychological symptoms, you may be eligible for TAC-funded therapy.
Where approval is in place, we bill TAC directly so you can focus on your recovery.
DVA (Department of Veterans’ Affairs)
Eligible veterans can access psychology services funded by DVA.
In most cases, sessions are fully covered and billed directly to DVA.
Cancellations & Late Appointments
We kindly ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
This allows us to offer the time to another client who may be waiting for support.
If less than 48 hours’ notice is given, or if you do not attend your appointment, the full session fee may be charged (except in exceptional circumstances).
Please note that Medicare does not cover missed or late-cancelled appointments.
A late cancellation affects:
- Your own progress in therapy
- Another client who could have used the time
- Your psychologist, who prepared for your session
